This composition is written for solo harp. The piece is for my Grandfather, who always saw things in a positive light despite suffering from cancer for 5 years. One day I woke up and found out that my Grandfather had passed away and I felt lost. In this piece I want to express my feelings toward my Grandfather’s death. To clearly express my sad and angry feelings in this composition, the key is predominantly in a minor key.

I decided to stay in one key without modulations throughout this composition. This piece is different to my other composition,“Yours Always”. This composition builds more tension through the melodic line and use of dynamic contrast.

In order to be able to bring the composition to life and highlight the contrasts in mood and dynamics, I practiced hard for it and am pleased with how the recording process went. I am also grateful for the help of my harp teacher who guided me throughout the composition.

I also many challenges composing this piece, especially in notating the composition through the use the of a MIDI keyboard and notation software, Sibelius.

Overall, I gained a lot of new musical knowledge in creating this piece, including how to express feelings more in music and compositions.
