Where to now…?’, my song is basically about me back then…to now. With the popularity of ‘Attention’ (Charlie Puth) and ‘Shape of You’ (Ed Sheeran), I started to admire and love their work and am inspired by
their work. In addition, I wanted to experiment more with the digital music software, ‘Pro Tools’ and ‘Reason’.

I brainstormed by writing down anything in my mind for 15 minutes. Then, I picked the 4 chords for the melody of the music, which is C-Dm-Em-F. Then, I started to think of the verse and pre-chorus lyrics. I named my song ‘Fly High’. I did lots of practice on the piano before I recorded it in Reason. I spent my whole two-week lunch time and weekends to finish recording the piano in Reason and record my vocals in Pro tools. I used Pro tools as a ‘master’ and Reason as a ‘slave’. I then started to edit using Pro Tools. I added some effects (reverb and delay) as aux inputs on the vocals to make it sound fuller. I use bus channels. Lastly, I mixed and balanced the levels of music with my vocals using the mixer on Pro tools. Finally, I bounced it down to a stereo mp3.

I have the desired to make my own song since I was 15, I want to be an artist. So this project was a project that I love and always wanted to do. I enjoy the process on making this song and look forward to do it again. Difficulties I encountered were pushing myself to work on it even if I’m not in mood, also I find it difficult to make lyrics that match the verse with the chorus and so on. But I do learnt lot of things about song making in this process.
