What connects us?’, my song is basically about love. A feeling of loving someone that can’t be forget. The upbeat sad love song was Inspired by an Indonesian love song by Yura Yunita ‘Harus Bahagia’. In addition, I wanted to focus more on songwriting technique rather than the music technology, hence I ask my friends as a band for a hand.

I listen to a lot of different music styles. I created my own style in Bahasa Indonesia. I wrote the lyrics about my personal emotions. I start singing a random melody and record it in my voice notes. Then, I make up lyrics. First, I got the chorus. Then after several weeks, I start to sing randomly and found the verse and pre chorus that match my chorus. That’s when I started to get everything in hand. After all the lyrics are settled, I asked my friend, Natasha, for a help to find the chords. Lastly, I asked the band to do practices together, then we record it at school with the help of Mr. David using Pro-tools. The band consisted of pianist, drummer, bassist, and guitarist. The chords are c-b-a-g-f-d.

I have the desired to make my own original song since I was 15, I want to be a songwriter after that. So this project was an open door for me. I definitely enjoy the process and look forward to start a career in music industry. Difficulties I encountered were encouraging myself to continue to finish song lyrics that must be connected even when I am not in mood. But I gain benefit, I learnt on how to connects lyrics from verse to pre chorus to chorus and also bridge. The most important thing is I have discovered my passion in songwriting.
