I really like underground music, especially the E.D.M. styles of Tech House, Bass House and even Deep House. The idea of extracting a commonly used sample came from composition approaches in these genres, where well known samples are transformed with new beats and sounds. The sample I chose is famously dubbed the “renegade master”, and taken from the vocal track of A.D.O.R’s ‘One for the Trouble’.
I believe there is 'shadow' side to everything. This is something that 'connects' us all even though it is often a separate world not all people like to see or acknowledge. The underground EDM culture is also an alternate world in many respects, a community that is comes alive at night.
My approach in this track was establish a simple Deep House beat, add a few layers of FX on top and run it all through some nice equalization. The last 'drop' part was an idea I thought of unexpectedly, which came to mind during the week before the the project was due.
I am proud that I persisted with this track which took me over 30 hours work. I believe a song (Music) can change us as a person - our behavior, mood, attitude or even our whole outlook and personality.
