You Gotta Stay Strong by 9A (2016)
One of the topics we covered during grade 9 last year was “Rap Music”, in which we went beneath the surface to explore the key elements of rap music. For this topic, our final project was a class-produced original track titled 'Stay Strong'. Each of us contributed towards this by writing one verse in our arranged groups. 9A’s “Stay Strong” conveys that we shouldn’t lose hope so easily. Instead, we should continue to have strength - even when there’s only a tiny bit of it left. The writing process of 'Stay Strong' involved the application of skills we've learnt (e.g rhyme) to successfully write verses that effectively convey the message of staying strong amidst adversity. In more ways than one, the track we produced represents our hopeful and optimistic outlook on life and the future, powering us forward despite various trials and tribulation. Cliche as it may seem, nothing in life is as irreparably broken as it seems so long as we continue to hope and have faith.
